Power Plant Premier Question
It seems to be very popular to combine the Power Plant Premier with a dedicated 20amp line. However, since the internal circuit breaker on the Power Plant is 15amp, what benefit is the 20amp line if the breaker is going to trip at 15amps??

Although the internal breaker to the Power Plant Premeir is 15amp, it will allow far greater current through for a short period of time. Thus providing the Premier with a 20 amp line will help the Premier to perform in high demand power peaks, such as explosions.
Another reason is that running a 20 amp line is just a fraction more than running a 15 amp line. Thus, when most audio and videophiles run dedicated lines they choose to go with 20 amp lines to better accommodate any products they may use in the future. |

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

It looks like I have run into the same issue with one of my PPP's for the second time in less than a week.
I powered up both of my units, one each on their own separate 20amp line. The only components plugged into each PPP is one 1.2kw amp. One of the two PPP's showed corrected distortion at 5.5% while the other showed ~1% a value around which both normally fluctuate. To get the one unit's value back to ~1% I had to unplug the unit from the wall, then plug it right back in and allow itself to "reset". I mentioned this in another thread a few days ago, and I found out how to get it back to normal when I swapped power cords between units to see if it was the power or the unit. It stays with the same amp. Should I be worried about this? |

Jim, give Ryan a call at PS Audio; if necessary let's get you a new unit.

The Power Plant Premier has a line carryover mechanism, which kicks in in the event that the incoming power is outside of the range the Premier can handle or when the Premier is presented with a large inrush current. Usually the transfer from regenerator to line back to regenerator goes without a hitch. Occasionally the Premier can get stuck in the line mode. Performing a hard reset, by unplugging the unit the unit for a minute, resets the microprocessor and will re-engage the regenerator.
If you find this becomes a common occurrence please let Ivan or me know. |
