Default Tube hour meter

I ordered a set of NOS Telefunkens for my McIntosh C2300 preamp. One thing I always wanted to know is how much time I have on my tubes. I know there are plenty LCD hour meters out there, but I'm the kind of guy that built a Nixie clock to go with my tube equipment. So in that same spirit, I thought it would be cool to make an hour meter myself.

The enclosure is solid aluminum with nice thick end caps. I'm still waiting on the IEC power connecter, but here's what I got so far.

Pity it says Honeywell and not McIntosh!

In the spirit of no dumb questions, how do you wire this so it comes on when your "tubes" are turned on? Is it as simple as using the same power distributor or is there a more elegant method?

...and when you're done, a bill of materials and some instructions if you please!
