I just upgraded from Yale and there is tighter bass with very airy highs. Wonderful upgrade.

Hi all.
I must say I really like the final (beta c) the best. Sound stage width and depth are very much improved in my opinion. I have seen some of you over at ps audio. I am guessing we just can't stop talking about it. Wonder if they will get any reviews from the writers on this? This product just continues to have great support by the company. Would be curious to hear impressions of Torreys vs some of the other dacs on the market. It just keeps getting better doesn't it??

Not to pick nits here, but there were actually 4 versions of Torreys. The first was limited to a first come/first served group. I agree that Torreys Final was the best all around. PSA should be commended for making a good product better and better.

Yes Joe .. I hopped on board to catch all the betas ... had a lot of fun doing it... seemed to like beta A better than beta B ... then liked Beta C the best as well... I know some liked beta B the best.... I am a sucker for depth... and I thought A had that in spades.... B a bit better bass , but more forward... more distinct in nature.... but maybe not as natural sounding.... and I thought C brought all of that together.... the depth, naturalness, bass etc... The fun factor is truly like purchasing a new product isn't it? For me at least.... I got a good deal on my DS - still big money for me though.... and a great idea it was... haha.....

Listening to Torreys final today after a long work week in swampy Houston. My entire week is fading away into the music. I think I can finally consider selling my Bryston BDA-3 and sticking with the DS DAC once the Roon integration with the Bridge II is complete!

Torreys is a very nice update. Music is much more defined and refined. It's like getting a new piece of gear for the price of a new SD card!

Kudos to the folks at PS Audio.

I have mostly been listening to jazz /acoustic/ rock with Torreys. Today I had an opportunity to listen to some classical piano trios (Mozart) and a quintet (in C by Schubert). My oh my. I couldn't tear myself away. This is where the depth just becomes intoxicating for me. I know how stupid that sounds. But when I hear all around the instrument it just knocks me out. When comparing the betas i didn't pick any classical pieces as sometimes they are slow to build and my aural memory is short!! Haha.

PS Audio... another company that does a great job improving their existing products, and continually offers firmware upgrades.

Can't wait for the Junior version!

What Ivan highlighted is perhaps the most meaningful thing for me. Great job going this route (upgradeable firmware), so that f.i. the DAC does not become obsolete and you don't need to get a new one every year or so. I'm thinking maybe a tube Mac preamp to go with the PS Audio Junior then I'm not purchasing any new equipment for a long while.
