Shindo Withdrawal
Due to major house renovations I had to take down and box up my Shindo/Devore system last weekend. I will really miss those exquisite little green boxes. Any suggestions on how I get by the next few months without my regular fix of beautifully reproduced music?
The iPod just wont cut it..I am really looking forward to March/April. On a side note there is an interesting article about the new Haut Brion in the current Stereophile. The new version apparently has a different mix of attributes. Give it a read. |

Lowens,
That stinks! I have no suggestions and find myself in the same boat as I am awaiting a new pre-amp and have shipped of my old one. I'm now living with a basic HT pre-pro, and NO VINYL... |

How about some good head phones and dedicated headphone amp? Many years ago I was in a situation similar to yours and bought Sennheiser HD-600 cans, Antique Sound Labs Mg-HEAD (small OTL tube amp) along with a cheap portable CD player. I was pleasantly suprised with the sound and it got me through a 5 month period without my main system.
Another good option is to go out and listen to more live music. When I need my musical batteries recharged I will go seek out some local bands to listen to. I'm often very suprised with the level of musicianship you can find in local nightclubs, coffee houses etc.. without spending much (if any) money.

Perhaps I will have to have you over to my place to listen to my new Montille 6v6, Aurieges and Devore super 8's!
I am in Maui at the moment but back in Vancouver in a couple of weeks. |

Lowens,
Another good reason to start the Vancouver Shindo Club. We will have to arrange a day for Cucumber and yourself to come over for a listen. I have a Bryston B60 and these small Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grand speakers that I am not using right now. I would be happy to loan them to you for a while. The Bryston is for outside speakers in our motorhome and it is in storage until March. Dale |

DB,
I like you're thinking. There needs to be one over here on the opposite side of the continent in S Florida... |

Franklin,
Start a chapter up, I'd love to have a reason to go to Florida. It's downright cold here right now! |

I can even film it in HD to lessen the pain. Let me know if this sounds reasonable. I won't charge much howie |
