Watching this but don’t yet see any need to pay more than the ~$240 a year for Tidal. I might not like the Jay Z push or their focused push on Rap and RnB, I don’t have to listen to it.

Is the option not available to add a Qobuz account in the Aurender right now?
I used Tunnelbear on my iPhone to create an account a month back. Once the account is created you don’t need to do anything special, you are good to go. |

I use both Tidal and Qobus. I prefer Qobus sound however there are downsides. Qobus search engine not as precise as Tidal which can be a disadvantage on occasions. Qobus Sublime lets you stream their hires catalogue but they don’t come for free. Even though you have paid for their top service, you still have to pay for any hires music separately before you are able to stream it.

Hifi Sublime + gives you 70,000 albums in hi-res to stream with no added costs.
Hifi Sublime is 16/44.1 quality with option to buy (cheaper) hi-res downloads.

Jay-Z is the only reason I don’t subscribe to Tidal. I will absolutely subscribe to Qobuz. Last edited by Karl Maga; 03-19-2018 at 09:35 AM. |

I have not compared Qobuz to Tidal but I suspect the difference is similar to bass fishing on a clean lake from a nice bass boat vs noodling. (Noodling is catching cat fish with bare hands in muddy waters) if you get the analogy... You get 5 rap albums for any non rap new album release with Tidal.

It’s a generalization, but Tidal has a deeper catalog of American rock and popular music, while Qobuz excels at classical and jazz. As Bart says, for about the same price as Tidal, you get 16/44 cd quality flac streaming plus a serious discount on hi-res download purchases. For the higher price of Sublime+ you also get streaming of all hi res titles, and still get the discounts on downloads.
If you buy music for download, the discounts are a major benefit and can pretty much offset the cost of the annual subscription. Just as an example, prices for new hi res releases are often 20-30% less than Hdtracks.

I don’t understand this. If you’re paying for Sublime+, all their hi res streaming is included. The only thing you would pay for is if you want to purchase downloads for your own library.
