My MCD500 just came back from the official McIntish repair company in the Benelux.
The tray was kinda shaking when opening and closing.
They fixed it and did a complete checkup.
Looks like new now! :-)

Had to belt mine at one point. Owned it longer than any other piece of gear (10yr+) and am never sure I did not make a mistake in moving on.

I spoke with Mike at AudioClassics and he said I have a hardened, worn belt problem preventing the CD tray from opening and closing properly.

Did he mention if they stock the belt kits for a DIYer? I guess I could call them or Mc and order the kit.

Gary.......Just as I suspected. Audio Classics should be able to have you back to factory perfect in no time. Check to see if there is also a second belt, I believe it actuates the disc clamp. Might as well do both while it's on the bench. The MCD500 is a great SACD/CD/DAC. No reason not to keep it intip top shape.

I plan to keep it in good shape. I really like that player. It sounds wonderful and the belt is the only problem I have had with it in many years.
