With a good pre/dac would the bluesound degrade the signal in some way?

The Sony unit holds its own against my Esoteric K-03X with a G-02 Clock on it. If you want simple, the Sony is a good choice. If you want to use an external DAC in the future, you can use the USB output of the Sony to feed it.

Is there a TV involved in this? If so consider an Oppo 205. You could use it for streaming from your computer, and you could also use it as you DVD & CD player. Thus reducing a box.
Depending on how mush music you plan to store on your computer, you could use a dedicated Mac Mini and buy it with maxed out storage. Minis are relatively easy to set up for computer audio.
Then lastly, for my player, I've just started using Roon with the Tidal streaming interface that is built into Roon. It is really , really nice. Tidal streams at red book CD quality if you get the upgraded version. I switched over from Amarra. So far, so good.
My personal setup has numerous boxes so I won't bother you with the details, but what I've described above would be pretty simple and involve 2 boxes - Mini and the Oppo. And you would not need DVD or CD player.
Good luck. Let us know how you decide to go.

Thanks for all suggestions. Mac mini is on the radar, need to do a little research on implementing that. Can that be controlled by an IOS device without the need for keyboard and mouse? Two channel listing for this setup, no tv, kinda done with CD's. Streaming is so convenient. Currently using Spotify premium and holding out for thier touted hi def roll out. I think Spotify is fantastic from a user standpoint.

Yes, the Mini can be controlled using an iPad. Depending on the player software you use there will likely be an App for that. Before Roon and Tidal I used Amarra. It fronts to iTunes. The Amarra controls the playback, but iTunes manages the stored files. So, there was no need for an App since everything was Apple and was integrated. With Roon there is an App, and since Tidal is integrated, no Tidal-specific App is required.

I've used Spotify also. It's good. I went with Tidal for the higher resolution files. But, if you are happy with Spotify or willing to wait, stick with it. Unfortunately, I have no experience using Jriver and Spotify in an integrated fashion. Surely somebody else has. Both are pretty popular.

Not to go off topic but.....I thought the main issue with he Sony was that you could not use an external DAC

It appears that is not the case?!

You couldn't use an external DAC in its original release, but in a more recent firmware update the ability to connect an external DAC via USB was added.

Spotify sounds very good through the Sony. The OP should read the HAPZ1 thread here.

What I did prior to upgrading and it worked beautiful was subscribed to Tidal and Roon.

Used Auralic Aries as a bridge between my PC and my C2500 and it streamed all the resolutions from the services - slick, clean and Roon compatible.
