You'd have to guess that they were already aware of the various responses to their design. I actually like them in white. I might be changing my mind. Sort of looks like a chubby gnome.

My wife almost got a heart attack when I first told her I really liked Vivid Audio speakers, and she saw some pictures of them.
After a couple of listening sessions, comparing with other brands, she was sold, and now she even loves the G2s in our living room.

The G2s look like a musical instrument; that's an extra plus in my book.

That was my wife's reaction when she saw them for the first time (as opposed to seeing photos).

The GIYA G3 is featured on the cover of the current edition of Stereophile.
In his summary of the speaker, John Atkinson had this to say: "Following on the heels of the $48,500/pair Wilson Alexia, which I highly recommended in my December 2013 review, Vivid’s Giya G3 was going to have to be something special to earn my respect. It did more than that. I immensely enjoyed the time I spent with this idiosyncratically styled loudspeaker. Yes, at $39,990/ pair, it is expensive, but for that money you get a combination of transparency and, rich low bass aside, almost full-range neutrality, coupled with superbly precise imaging and an easy-on-the-ear yet revealing balance that proved addictive. I ended my review of the Wilson by declaring that if I were to retire tomorrow, the Alexia would be the speaker I would buy to provide the musical accompaniment to that retirement. Now I would have to choose between it and Vivid Audio’s Giya G3!" |

Here in Europe, the Alexia finds itself more in the range of the Giya G1 price wise. It is even more expensive than the latter.

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about Wilson. ;-)

I'm with Chris; I like Wilson but their aesthetic never clicked with me the way Vivids have, plus think the Alexia/Giya G2 decision cones down to personal preference. I find the G2 to be more coherent and to disappear more into the room where the Alexia is IMHO a bit darker in quality.
By comparison the G3 was a bit bass shy in my room but better soundstage-wise than the Sasha was; I haven't heard the Sasha II yet. |
