It's time to get my SS Daytona back to the Rolex Service Center here in Dallas. I'm lucky to have an official service center about 20 minutes from home. Usually costs me between 600-900 depending on watch and options.

In any case, I am glad I kept it and it's a joy to wear every day!

PS Twice a year, the GMT mechanism comes in handy for dealing with Daylight Savings Time ... I can change the hour hand with one click and the seconds hands keeps going ... ingenious.
It's that faded look and patina that give them character, Alberto. I would guess your GMT is worth more now than when you first bought it.

I agree. Now it has more character – MY character.

As far as value increasing, I don't know. I paid about $4500 for it at the time. The new ones are ~$10K, so I suspect that this one will have at least held the price quite well.

5-7 years max IMO. If you wait longer, it can get expensive - parts will get damaged and need to be replaced due to increased friction as the lubrication dries up. Although 900$ after 15 years is not so bad. For vintage pieces, replacing original parts with new parts usually brings down the value, actually. Vintage rolexes are very sought after at the moment, and patina dials and bezels are what people are looking for.
