Question Next watch...

AA Comrades & Time Piece Connoisseurs, I'm almost ready to purchase my second luxury time piece. I currently own the Rolex DeepSea Sea Dweller, and love it. Here are the current options for my sophomore piece:

IWC Aquatimer Chrono

Breitling Windrider Blackbird

Rolex GMT II

The Rolex is almost twice the price of the other two up for consideration. And the purpose of this second watch is for casual use, although each can be worn for any occasion.

I'd like to take a poll to see which one wins 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And I'm open for suggestions. What watch not mentioned here should I be considering? Thanks for your help.

Tag Heuer Carerra Chrono is a sweet watch for casual wearing.

From my perspective I take Brietling over Rolex any day then it depends on which IWC. Between the Breitling and IWC you show, in this case I would go with the Breitling.

Why Breitling over Rolex and IWC.

As far as Breitling and Rolex: 1) I prefer Breitling design in general over Rolex (the one exception is the Daytona) 2) between my wife and I we have owned several Rolex and they didn't keep time worth diddly-squat and were always back for an expensive tune-up. Other than "Yes dear" the most common thing I tell my wife is "No, your watch is wrong". 3) When I spend good money on a watch I would prefer something less common.

I have always liked but never owned IWC. I was tempted with the Portuguese and the Ingenieur. So between IWC and Breitling it just comes down to the which style you like better.

Now that I am not working I am down to a couple of Breitlings and Jaeger LeCoultre and a great little Citizen that I wear most of the time. Nowhere to wear them good ones most of the time.

The are just my opinions and experiences.

Very nice!

Tags are much more "modern" IMHO than Rolexes. Not to mention they are better at keeping time (one of the strange, but important tasks of a watch).

The design of Tag's, and some Omega's are much more cutting edge (with exceptions) to the Rolexes. Jason Bourne is a Tag Heuer guy and James Bond, is an Omega guy.

In Rolex, I love the Submariner (50th anniversary green bezel), the platinum yachtmaster, and the stainless Daytona. The rest tends to feel more like "Bob Barker" than James Bond (IMHO).

Again, depends on your taste, and of course YMMV.

I've come to respect your opinion. That makes it valuable to me. I own one Rolex, and that's the DSSD. I bought it in March and it seems to be very accurate. But I really do like the IWC Aquatimer Chrono and the Breitling pictured above. I guess it's better to have more choices than not enough, huh?

Thanks but please purchase what you would like to see on your wrist.

It is funny but watches in general are becoming the toys of older people kind of like audio. It seems like kids just use their phones to tell time. No need for a watch.
