That’s a shame.

What a shame. I’m sure this is not the Steely Dan legacy that Walter Becker would have wanted.

It's all fun and games until you name your band after a gigantic steam powered dildo. Then weird things start to happen.

I never thought of that, but it does illuminate the meaning of their song “Steelin’ in the Years”.

Regarding the law suit, I can’t think of a proper reason why the Band Name shouldn’t belong to Donald Fagen.

^ seems to be greed on the defendants side. An agreement is just that. I would hope that some royalties do go to WB's widow though.

My guess, Donald's legal team just doing their job.

From what I've read, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with royalties. It's specifically to do with ownership of the name "Steely Dan". The implication for Fagen would be usage of the band's name when performing live in the future.
If he had to pay a fee or a percentage of profits to use the band's name it may no longer be financially viable to tour as "Steely Dan".

For me personally, Steely Dan without Walter isn't Steely Dan.

I agree Art, Walter missing means the Dan ain’t the Dan, just Fagen & Co.
