Default Chick Corea alive and well

Saw Chick Corea tonight at the Jazz Alley in Seattle, and he was outstanding. Playing with him were Carlitos del Puerto (Bass) and Ignacio Berroa (Drums). At the age of 76, Chick is still going strong, and remains a remarkable pianist, improviser and leader. Best of all, he and his band mates were wonderfully in tune with each other and clearly enjoying themselves. The music was brilliant, the acoustics excellent, and the band had fun engaging with the audience.

For you Seattle area AAers, if you haven’t been to the Jazz Alley, treat yourself some night to a great time at what is probably one of the premiere jazz clubs in the country.

I saw Chick Corea live in Philadelphia a few times over the years but that was quite some time ago. Good to know he is still performing.

Thank you for sharing Tony!

These old and wise jazzmen are sometimes brilliant!
Ahmad Jamal is also alive and kicking (saw him live when he was already 81).
I saw Roy Haynes when he was 85, and he blew the young drummer from the band that played before his out of the water.
