GAT is at home !!
Stunning, Fabulous, Incredible, Extraverted, Refined, Pure....
Simply the very best line preamplifier I ever had in my home. A special thanks to my friend Joe who is no more on AA and gave me the opportunity to buy his GAT. And a special thanks to Stephen ( aka Puma Cat) who gave me the opportunity to discover CJ's preamp by selling me his Premier 17LS. Color me HAPPY ! image-1233358001.jpg

That sounds awesome Jérôme, glad that you seem to have found your destination preamp! Curious to know how you find it to be superior to your Shindo Giscours. Enjoy the tunes!

Hi Jerome
congrats. Don't you just love the reassuring clicks as you go up or down the .7db gain steps and how the pre amp will sound the same at any volume step. enjoy the preamp!! Telefunken tubes are amazing. Stillpoints give a nice performance upgrade as well - 5's for me now. as two wise men say - " It just sounds right " |

I do not write any more "reviews". I can only say that for line inputs, the Giscours is very laid back. The music is presented as a whole melody with huge coherence. The transparency is very high and you can hear lots of details, but the details are at the exclusive service of the whole melody. The sound of the Giscours for line inputs is very relaxed, inviting you to seat and immersing yourself in the music. For vinyl, you get the same sound but with more punch and dynamics. I always enjoy a lot the music through the Giscours, but for some digital recordings I think : oh I wish it could have more "kick and punch" on that one !! Keep in mind that the CJ preamps I am "reviewing" are just line stages. To me the Premier 17 LS was more enjoyable than the Giscours. I get this kick ! But two friends came and they both preferred the Giscours over the 17LS. Well I guess that after 4 years with the Giscours, I am hearing things that they are not familiar with. And the timbres of the Giscours may be a bit richer. The GAT is very different. It punches at a very high level while staying ultra musical. Its bass goes lower and with more control than the Giscours. The dynamics are to die for. And the details and transparency are top notch. While still not attracting you to sterile details, like my Giscours, it presents the music with a higher level of involvement. I seriously doubt that my two friends could prefer the Giscours over it. It is finally a very good complement to the Giscours for my digital. With the GAT, I get the full musical experience. I am rediscovering my speakers. The Giscours gives the full Shindo sound.

Thanks !! I put the GAT on 4 PAB AVF. Like all my important gear. Joe provided 2 sets of tubes. Nos obviously but I cannot read the brand. He bought them from Upscale Audio. It is written on the label " 6922 Russian type 3". T1 and T2 measured at 12500. Where do you get your Tele from ? Can you send me the link please ? Tube rolling is easy in that thing ! Yes I like the little clicks and the precision you get to adjust precisely the sound to the needed level. But the sound of the GAT is....oh damn, you know what I mean !!!
