Default New review of the Boulder 1060

Hi guys, I spotted a new review of the Boulder 1060 by reviewer Ryan Coleman for Ultra Audio. Ryan nailed the review. I agree with his comments about the 1060's effortlessness in complex passages, low level detail & overall naturalness of tone. His comments about it's PRAT & long decays are also true. This is a reference amp in the true sense & responds wonderfully to changes elsewhere in your system thanks to it's accuracy & neutral tonal balance. The reviewer summarized my own thoughts that this is the thinking man's amp by remarking "This is a component for mature listeners". Enjoy!

Thanks David,

Their gear looks awesome and I am sure sound just as good as it looks. I'd like to hear Boulder equipment sometime.

It is a beautifully built amp.

Thanks for your comments Joe. I love everything about his amp, even it's understated classic looks. It simply sounds natural and sounds like music. It's enormous power, speed and control, combined with it's tomb-quiet nature mean strings and piano in particular can be spine tingling. You just shake your head. It DOES place demands on upstream equipment & cables, but when well matched with cables & source, wow..

Thanks Mike, I agree! The built quality is bordering on fanatical. One of the unique things about Boulder is they have an unusually high degree of control over the manufacturing process. Most parts are designed & built in-house, and those that are not are made to Boulder's specifications; nothing is off the shelf. I am planning an overseas trip to the US in a couple of years & plan to visit the Boulder factory. There are lots of exciting things happening at Boulder at the moment...they are doubling their factory space & adding another CNC machine, and all this amidst all the doom and gloom in the world!
