More help with BDA-3...

Hi,

I am up and running now with m BDP-2 and BDA-3 but I have som issues:

1. when listen via USB input and then changes to HDMI (from my Marantz SACD players HDMI out) there is no sound. But if I power off and start again and this time I start wit HDMI input it comes sound sometimes.

2: current firmware in the BDA-3 is 2015.11. I have tried to update to 2015.12a. It's easy to download the file, choose it and then click the upload button. The upload starts. The green light at the powerbutton is blinking and the web browser count the upload to 100% and then some initializing starts. Then the green light stop blinking but the web page doesn't say anything. And the new firmware is not installed. I tried several times and one time I waited 30 minutes but the web page look the same. Shouldn't the upload button change to execute or something?

3. when playing via the USB input everything works well in about 20 minutes then the sound stops but the green light at the USB button still lights green.
I have restart the BDA-3. Then it works agan in about 20 minutes.
If I play via the coaxial input the sound will not stop.

I can't help you other than to say this is not my experience. I was flipping back between USB, Coax, and HDMI this afternoon with no issues at all. I do have the latest firmware, which I received directly from Gary at Bryston. When I tried the web GUI to install it previously it didn't take. When I got the file from Gary it worked. Could be a problem with the file on their Dropbox server.

Ok, same here, its the web GUI that is not working for me either. Maybe the updated firmware solves the other problems?

Can you send me the same fil?

There was another user on a different forum who experienced some of the same problems that Lasse described, and they were able to resolve them by updating to the latest firmware file from Bryston but it also did not successfully install via the web based GUI.

Tested some more today and sometimes even The USB input is quiet but The light is green showing signal in. But after a reastart USB Work and today It didn't give up after 20 minutes. I listen all day via USB without problem after The reastart.

I also tried again to install The new firmware (2015.12a) via The web based GUI but with no succés.

But HDMI is totally quiet and The light is now red. Yesterday it was green. It works sometimes but was dead sometimes but The light was green even when it was quiet. But today The HDMI input was totally quiet and the light is red. I tried different HDMI inputs and different HDMI cables. I Have a Supra cable, a iFi cable and two Audioquest cables of higher quality.

I have sent a mail to Gary, hoping for help.

That will be great and highly apreciated!

Despite this issue I am very happy and satisfied with The sound. The BDP-2/BDA-3 perform much better than The Lynx in My HTPC and the inbuilt DAC in my pre-amp. Very impressive! Now I am concidering to change to more Bryston gear. Maybe a 14B-SST3 amp? Or two 7B-SST3? A BP-26?

Yes I get about an email a week from customers who tell me that they can not believe how much better the BDP and BDA sounds compared to what they thought was a state of the art system they already had.

It really does make a difference !
