Shindo and ProAc
Hello folks,
Most ProAc speakers are not high eff ones ( they are usually at about 88dB) but with a nominal 8 ohm load they are amp friendly so I was wondering if someone already heard one of them paired with a Shindo amp ? Thanks ! Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado

I doubt your CCQ's would have any trouble driving the ProAc. I know of someone who drove Verity Parsifal's w/ CC80's. Those were 89 db, but a fairly demanding 4 ohm. Cheers -Don

Jerome, the D28 has very easy load according to Stereophile. I doubt the D18 will be much different.

In my experience, Shindo and ProAc does not work very well.
To be more specific, I tried an Apetite in my system with my ProAc Tablette Ref 8 Sigs. On ProAc's website, you will see that this model is rated as requiring only 10 watts. And indeed, there was no problem with loudness. But I just found the two didn't really gel -- the "flow" that's so much in evidence with, say, Apetite + Devore 3XLS wasn't there. By contrast, Leben seems to love Proac. I've heard my CS600 with Tablettes, D Two, D28, and D40, and all have worked at least well. CS600 + Devore 3XLS and 88s come across as a bit lean to me. CS300 and Orangutan O/96 was better. Synergy.... This of course is just my opinion. I know of one store (Arizona Hi Fi) that stocks both Shindo and Proac; I don't know what they think of the pairing, but they probably have more experience than me.) Sorry to have rained on anyone's parade. And this was my first ever post here! |
