Yes, it has to be active for such length. But, it s the active part that is a problem. It has to support 18gbps. Even WW Platinum Starlight is active beyond some certain length, but still not support 18gbps required by UHD Premium spec, until they redesign the active circuit. I recently did a evaluation/comparison, for a video only feed, of a AudioQuest Carbon 10m passive cable rated at 600mhz/18gps and a Monoprice Carbenet 40' active cable also rated at 600mhz/18gps. The test was setup between a Samsung K8500 4k Blu-ray player in a direct feed to a Sony VPL-VW5000ES 4k laser projector. I also generated various test patterns, with a Quantum Data 780 generator directly to the Sony. The projected image was on a 155' diagonal 2.40 screen. I found no significant difference, in video display, between the two justifying a 12x cost difference. I would also note that I had difficulty with the AudioQuest/Sony connection in respect to the Sony properly activating the HDR metadata. With the Monoprice, I had none!

I have used Monoprice cables for years with no issue at all. I am presently using them on a JVC RS55 projector. HDMI either works or doesn't. If you see "sparklies" then it isn't transmitting properly.

I'm not very educated on the topic, but doesn't JVC not have a 4K projector? I thought they only did Feaux-K?
My local installer didn't want to put an HDMI in my home theater projector which I'm in process of designing. They want to put optical to HDMI converters with running optical. They said it will be much cheaper and much better performance.

I'm in the market for a 675 Sony which is a true 4K, but it doesn't even fully support 18 Gbps from what I'm reading in forums. It's more like 10-11.

I thought sparkles has nothing to do with a cable; it's a drawback of using an Ambient Light Rejection screen?

I have a 9m WW Silver Starlight 7 that works great with my 4k source material. Okay, cheap it's not. However, compared to using baluns, etc. it is way less complex and is "set and forget".
I was convinced that to get full UHD 4k at over 25', I would have to go with a powered system. I contacted Ivan, who has a ton of experience with this stuff. He steered me to this HDMI and it has worked great. Just sayin'......

The same can be said about Audio. See cables don't matter threads.

We recently used the Kordz Neo S3 kit which works pretty well if you've already had a long run installed in your walls/system but the cable doesn't support 4K.

It comes as a full kit - or just as adaptors on either end which converts a passive HDMI to an active one.

Pretty neat I thought.

Granted this isn't what I'd propose for HDMI audio but if you were stuck with an older FullHD cable, it's well worth a look

JVC does have a native 4K projector, the DLA-RS4500 although it runs a cool $34000 retail . The rest of their standard projector line is of the 4K eshift variety. Mixed feelings on the eshift as I have one.....some things may look a touch better with it engaged but I usually leave it turned off.
