I guess I could have started off the thread question a bit differently with a bit more information as well.

Again, I started this thread because I used to see a-lot of high end audio systems in the 90's using Monster cables for speaker and interconnect. In many cases they were a gold standard. That has undeniably changed and I was interested in the reasons why.

That is total garbage. I tried to choose poll questions that suited all circumstances. I have nothing against Monster Cable and you are trying to portray that I have some kind of vendetta.

Well that might explain why you seem so upset. Again, my interest was not in bashing Monster cable, but to understand better why it used to be so common and its so much less common now.
Derek, I'm not offended at all. The issue I have is opinions that are stated or argued as facts. I'm not a Monster Cable fan boy and use them in my HT because I cannot hear or justify the use other cables in that system. So to that extent I'm happy with them.

Fair enough.

My opinions defiantly not facts, only my personal experience. I created this thread because I was hoping someone else had facts to share about my perceived change in the hi-end marketplace.

Derek, I would say matured. We who used them have a natural curiosity through hearing/learning/conversing etc & have moved onto better things through our observations. As always, our ears are the judge so it's self indulgence.

It's all good Bob, even if you refuse to fall in line in a materialistic world.

Another reason for the fall of Monster Cable is the collapse of the mid-fi market. The folding of major mass marketers like Magnolia, Circuit City and others, where Monster Cable enjoyed huge sales numbers, has radically changed the marketplace.

Magnolia has folded? Who knew?

I guess that means those 350+ MHTs and those 35 MDCs, some of them just opening with even more in the plan/build process, are just figments of our imagination.

When I was 14 years old, Monster was one of a few cables that I knew. May be the other were MIT and Kimber Kable Audio Technica and Sony. I still have balanced Interlink 500 in my current system, for channel 6+7 in 7.1 system.

I think fiscally, Monster is doing just fine.
