Default D.C. Restaurant Suggestions

Headed to DC next week and am hoping for restaurant suggestions. Very good food is more important than ambiance. Any cuisine is good. It's been years since I've taken out clients there, so have no idea what's good anymore.

Thanks in advance.

A senator friend of mine took me to Oceanaire Seafood Room in downtown D.C. It was one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. I hear BlackSalt in north Georgetown is also very good for seafood.

Thanks, Randy! I've not heard of either. They will go on the list, for sure. Love seafood.

Anyone else have a suggestion or two?

It's been a couple of years, but the steakhouse in the W Hotel next to the Treasury Dept is excellent and the space is amazing.

Mendocino in Georgetown. Great memo and excellent wine list.

There are so many choices. While a little far away, check out Clydes in Leesburg/Ashburn. Right near Dulles Airport. Many of the Redskins eat there.

1789 in Georgetown, Old Anglers Inn on MacArther Blvd, Potomac are two excellent restaurants that are very popular with the DC crowd. They have both been there for years and attract a loyal group of the DC "elite" (if there is such a thing).

Thanks, everyone, for the great suggestions. Unfortunately, we canceled the trip. Just one of I'm sure thousands of tourists who did. I'd seen most of the typical sites, but Mel had not, so there was real disappointed there. We'll give it another go in a couple years. Next year's trip is Italy.

For Italy, you won't need restaurant suggestions!
