Iceland is epic in scenery and the grandeur of nature. Reykjavic is a fun town filled with friendly people, great shops and restaurants. Enjoy your time there!

Just got back. Food is 'edible', but flying in from France may not have been a fair comparison. We planned a layover and spent a day at the Blue Lagoon. Was great. We plan to return for a 3-4 day visit to see the city (there's only one) and glaciers, etc. Return to the Blue Lagoon (we both lost 20yr with the mud & massage ). Maybe we will even find some 'good' food.

You're right it's probably not a fair comparison. It's hard to beat the food in France. We'll be spending 10 days in total. We will see Reykjavík but also more remote regions (glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, hot springs, etc.). Good thing everyone speaks English. The language looks impossible to speak or learn.

Get this from Amazon before you go:

Wallpaper* City Guide Reykjavik 2013

It will highlight all the stylish, good places to visit, stay, eat and drink. This guide has never failed me. I've used it for my trips to Melbourne, to Dubai, to Paris, to Istanbul, to Chicago, etc and it's always spot on. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the tip. It looks really appealing. Just what I could have used. I wish I had known sooner. There is no time to order the book. They do sell a number of iPhone/iPad compatible editions but unfortunately Reykjavik is not one of them. I'll have to stick with my Lonely Planet guide. I will definitely check them out next time.

You may be able to find it locally at a specialty travel shop or design store (e.g., the shop of a typical Modern Art Museum). Anyway, good luck and enjoy.
