For those that prefer the older Windows interface with a simple desktop and start button with fly-out menus to access your programs, I'd suggest StartIsBack or other similar programs. I purchased StartIsBack for its nominal $2.99 fee and my desktop and program access is able to be configured exactly how I prefer it. Of course as with most things, YMMV applies.

A little off topic, but I recently bought a Microsoft Surface Book 2 and it's the best laptop I've ever owned. Combination tablet laptop with an excellent keyboard. Two batteries one for the screen and one in the keyboard. I've gotten 15 hours of battery life as a laptop. Used as a tablet 4.5 hours. My iPad used to get that kind of battery life, but IOS 11 has been a huge disapointment with older Apple products. Comes with Windows 10 pro installed. Highly recommend.

I completely disagree. This is an Update - not Upgrade. They are adding features for free. One can elect to decline the update. In this instance, the new features are uninteresting to me. I’ll wait a couple weeks before trying the update because the online community will let us know if dragons be there by then.

My wife uses a 7 year old Dell laptop that runs Win 10 - no issues. I worked from 2006-2017 for HP and Dell in their server/storage/network divisions. Lots of customers run their PC’s for many years without issues.

I installed Classic Shell first thing to be rid of the "metro"? start menu. It was free, but I would have paid a lot more than $2.99, if necessary, to be rid of it.

EDIT
: Because I don't use a touch screen and don't care for those tiles. And now I'll go on & on about something 'cuz it's "my" thread ...

After my pricey, old Viewsonic died, I got a 32" TV for a monitor and it's great, but but since I occasionaly play with P/Shop Elements, I might go back to a high-resolution PC monitor someday.

Actually, it just occured to me that maybe I should see what a 4K TV would be like as a PC monitor - as a test for a 32" one; I'll be getting a 70" or bigger 4K TV pretty soon anyway to replace the 70" HD I have now before it dies. I want to use the present one as an "aquarium" and probably, upon death, replace it with a 4K "aquarium".

Now if you want that same interface you have to place the files on both your PC and Cloud!

They reverted to the same system as Drop Box or Google....

From what I read, too many folks did not realize that their files were not on their hard drive so they dumbed down their product to be the same as everyone else.

I was real ticked because I had bought a new PC with no memory, relying on the cloud. Now it;s a whole process like it is with any other cloud.
Hmmmmm... Are you using Windows 10?? OneDrive *does* function the way you are describing the "original" way the Microsoft Cloud worked. If OneDrive is installed, all you need to do is log into your computer with a Microsoft Account. You will have a drive letter to a OneDrive storage area that is 100% in the cloud and not stored on your device locally. You can also share these files with other people and they too can access them at the same time.

There is another way for you to have local files and have them sync with the cloud (which looks to be the way you *DONT* want it) but that is something different. If you dont have OneDrive already installed, you can get it here:
