Much research since my last post. I found a DIY builder on Etsy that will do the elements for a custom Skyline QRD diffusor for a very reasonable price that I could assemble myself.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/5942765...4aAqrJEALw_wcB

Attached is an updated layout of the room. The new oak audio cabinet is shown in green between the speakers in red. I'm considering building a frame on the back of the cabinet (solid green area) and mounting a sheet of plywood in the frame with my TV on one side and the diffusors on the other. The board will flip over within the frame like a blackboard -watch TV or flip it over for diffused music listening.

A few questions to share with my AA compatriots:

- Can a skyline diffusor be built to any dimension and be equally effective?
- This unit will be mounted 19" in front of the wall.
- Will this have a negative impact on the effectiveness of the diffusor?
- Or is it really necessary to mount the diffusors to the wall?
- Might there be a vibration issue with the diffusors hanging in a (well made) free standing frame?
- Critically, what impact will this diffusor installation have on the sound of the room?

I also will add absorption at the first reflection and some sort of bass trap, but I want to attack this most complicated piece first.

Thanks for any advice that you all can share!
