I think that's trivialising the work that the engineers have done. Sure you could roll off the highs with a filter but that also introduces other effects.
What B&W have done with the longer Nautilus tube is to reduce the back reflection from the enclosure behind the tweeter. In some ways, I am reminded of what KEF did with the Meta. Its a subtle change which doesn't change the underlying character of the tweeter but reduces the effect of the back wave reflections.

As with D2 and D3 models, there are no resistors in the signal path to the tweeter in the D4.
