The improvement is significant, it won't change the stock height much at all.

Thanks for starting this thread Jeff. I always said I'd never mess with the feet on my Classic 3 but now I have ultra ss incoming. (Come on in the water is warm!)

Semi-related question-- I was trying to install my Stillpoints when I noticed the bearing on the bottom of my plinth seemed to be loose from the top of my bearing where my platter sits. I could hand tighten but left it loose for now. Any idea how tight it is supposed to be and by being loose does it impact the sound/noise level?

I have about 3-4 exposed threads and it's not tight! Shit one of us better call Harry, I wonder if it is supposed to be that way. Sounds great though. How do they sound? Could you pm me the info on your SS feet and the threads you purchased.

Hi Jeff. I called VPI and talked to a tech. He suggested that the bearing on the bottom of the plinth (as well as the assembly on top) should be tight (so I will now tighten mine). As for the SS Ultras, I have not listened to them yet as I found I need a different sized adaptor-- which my dealer is sending. I will ask him what the thread is but I can say that -- for my table at least -- the thread is the same width and pitch as that of the Ultra SS. You should probably double check if you have the option. One other note is that the Ultra SS is shorter than the stock feet. I do think it will clear the bearing as Ivan states but not by much. If height is not an option then no worries. For me, it presents both challenges and opportunities because of my current cabinet size. More to come. -Jeremy
