I'm thinking of running an mcd500 (I tried it recently), or an mda1000 direct to my amp with my Sonos and calling it a day.

Thanks for pointing me towards Rhapsody. Just tried and is really amazing. No more blind purchase of CDs... from now on I have a way to listen to them all at home, before purchasing.

Stephen,
Great question - I'm quite happy with the bedroom system we now have iPod into a Triode TRK3488 amp powering my Infinity RS4s (from Highland Appliance on Monroe St., purchased in '83). At some point I'll get another DAC & use my old Mac Mini in place of the iPod, but for a goofy combination of the iPod, 10w tube integrated and nearly 30-year-old speakers, it does a great job of putting a smile on our faces.

Most basic system I've ever had was a pair of Senn's HD600, EAR MAX OTL, triode headphone amp and Ah Tjoeb! tubed CD player. Some seriously great listening sessions with that setup. I'd gladly listen to that if I had to go to bare bone basics.

Dave.......Honestly, I think you missed the point.

If you had to live with the most basic system that you can imagine... is the thread title. That's the most basic system you can imagine living with?

I really love music and simple systems...

I agree...

Listened to this tonight when kiddos went to bed. I would add the beyerdynamic matching A1 amp. It pairs perfectly with the T1s. I thik it is what was used to voice the T1s.
