Been slammed with business; so this was the first chance I had to listen to my new BDA-3.

A marked improvement over the BDA-2, I mean really noticeable. I put it temporarily in my all Esoteric rig, feeding it from an Olive 04 since it was near by.

The sound itself is much more analog, and flows effortlessly. I also note a broader soundstage. Combined with all the inputs, and super high reliability; Bryston has hit it out of the park... again!

hmmm I thought it wasn't supposed to really sound any different than the BDA-2 per James a number of months ago but be more of an alternative for customers who had a specific need that the BDA-2 couldn't accommodate. What changed??

Hi

The BDA3 uses the new AKM DAC so that will account for some changes.

I believe so as all else is very similar.

The one surprise for me was I have always preferred AES to USB on the BDA2 and we have a new USB circuit in the BDA-3 to accommodate proper DSD and PCM playback and I am very happy with the way USB is performing on the BDA-3 DAC.
