Default Why is my BDP-1 so darn slooooow to load?

Every time I want to play music on my bdp1 through my sp3 and my 9bsst2 I have to wait about a half an hour while it says "Loading" until I actually get any music to play.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I never know know if it's just loading every tune on the thumb drive or something's broken, or what.

Why does it take so long?

Would a bdp2 with internal SSD load any faster?

I don't play a whole lot of music, but when I want to, I don't want to wait 1/2 hour just to get it to work.

Hi Dave

That is not normal - if your music is loaded it should be able to play right after bootup.

Thanks, James--Yeah, something isn't right. I've been messing around for an hour and a half. The correct lights on the SP3 are lit up, and the MPD says it's playing, but when I hit "play" on the bdp1 proper or on the remote, it still says "Loading", briefly, then goes back to displaying whatever I'm trying to listen to.

How long should it take from turning on the bdp1 till it actually plays, assuming I turn it off between sessions?

I had a similar problem a few months ago; IIRC, I think unplugging it for awhile sorted it out but not sure since I was doing the Monkey and typewriter problem solving.

Thanks, guys. Doing a little troubleshooting.

A minute would be fine, but it seems like it always takes longer than that.

I may be talking to you, Ivan, about a BDP2 and a Bot-1.

Well, seems to be working now. Can't say why. Blind pig syndrome?
