Those gm70's on the 'Gon are now "gone" so somebody snatched them up.

Hey Jayson - how is the new analog rig treating you?

Sitting 10' from the speakers the imaging is great. I guess the question is whether the forward soundstage of the gm70's is too 'in your lap' for this size of room, even if treated?
So two answers - the first is it truly is a question of taste - which amps sounds better to you (and if possible in your room, though I know that is usually not the case). If it is at all possible for you to listen to the GM70, I would recommend it.

It could be too, that given your room at home is larger than mine, and treated that it would lessen some of the forward qualities I experienced. My room BTW is untreated.

Another thing to consider is speaker efficiency et al ( I know you already know that) - the GM70 have more than double the wattage of my Lafon 300Bs. My O/96s have an efficiency of 96 dB.

The GM70s are great amps - and I know John D does think they make a good match with the O/96s.

Haven't quite got all the pieces in place yet. In the final stage of my Garrard rebuild and plinth should be here by end of the week. Hoping to have it all together and sounding sublime by the end of the month.

Just picked up an SPU 90th to go with the Schick arm too so I'm itching to put this setup to work.

Did you buy that GM70, then? If so, I am very jealous!!!
Hi gortnipper,
I made an enquiry but they had already gone, I was a bit slow there.

I'm hoping the treated room would offset however I won't be back in England for a while, meanwhile it is a tough decision to treat rental.

The O/96's in combination with the green boxes where fantastic, I'm pretty sure the current zingali are out matched.

I like my gm70s. But all the Shindo amps I have heard sound great.

Yes I concur. I do want to be clear that all the ones I heard did indeed sound wonderful, then in the end it all comes down to preference, price and other considerations (such as speaker efficiency, room size, etc)

I agree with someone here - multiple amps!
