That would seem the obvious answer, but I wanted to double check since I’m not sure if that point is relevant to his question or my answer.

Default Typhon QR vs Non-QR

I received my Typhon QR a bit over a week ago. Comparing it to my Typhon I think that the low noise-floor virtues I originally heard adding the Typhon to my system are even more apparent with the series-connected Typhon QR (TQR for short): better delineation of low-level details, not only in the amplitude or frequency realm — micro- and macro-dynamic swing, quieter between note silence, faint details less obscured, better sense of ambience and air — but also things I ascribe to the timing domain — quicker transient leading edges, faster settling of notes, enhanced depth and sense of space and image definition.

Additively, each of these improvements result in a sense of ease, naturalness, and relaxed realism that I think is very noticeable and addictive.

Having now heard the TQR in my system I wouldn’t want to go back.

Putting the parallel-connected Typhon back in the system is just a little more icing on the cake.

FWIW, I’m using a Sigma NR to connect from wall to TQR and I agree with the previous post that the Sigma NR sounds a more neutral and transparent power lead than the excellent Sigma HC, which is by no means objectionably colored and remains a great power cord. I’d add that the TQR seems to follow along the same lines — a bit more neutral and transparent and a tad less warm than the original Typhon.

Hope this proves useful to those considering a Typhon QR.

That was a nice write-up.

Did you put the original Typhon back into your system by plugging it into a wall outlet?

Thanks for your review, so far. It's very helpful and one of the first I've read with a description of how it sounds.

In terms of the TQR's impact in your system, do you think you could speak to which makes a bigger difference in your system - the TQR replacing the original Typhon or the Sigma NR replacing the Sigma HC?

Thanks for the kind words, Tima.

I still had an open receptacle on the back of the Triton, so I plugged it back in there.

You’re very welcome, Christian. I’m glad I could be useful.

I think the TQR has the bigger positive effect by a significant margin, but I am glad that I could afford both the upgrades. And the HC didn’t go far — it got moved over to my amplifier, which was using an Alpha HC.

Best regards,

Steve Z

I just received my V3 upgrade from Shunyata. In my system it was an absolute game changer. The entire soundstage and detail was completely different. Much more information came through. For some users, the V3 has had mixed to slightly positive reviews, for me it was eye opening. I guess this is system dependent.
