Well, I only have about 10 hours on them so far. My initial thoughts are that I'm very pleased with them. Backgrounds are very very quiet. Midrange seems to be a little more lifelike, more so than the gold lions. But overall I would say the EAT and Gold Lions are very close. The Eat produce a much more quieter background, which is always good with analog, IMHO. There is a very smooth overall sound to them. I think these will defiantly be keepers. There is defiantly a slight improvement over the gold lions. I can't really put my finger on it, I guess I would have to say a little more transparent and more natural. I may buy 2 more to try in the output stage, but I'll let these break in a little longer, until I switch out he GLs. As I get more time on them and can quantify the differences, I'll report back. But if anyone is thinking about taking the plunge with EAT, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I feel there is an positive audible difference over the GL.

Shine on!...........Scott

Scott.......Thanks for the update. I would certainly expect to hear an improvement with the EAT tubes over almost any others, especially considering the price difference. EAT's are darned expensive.

I call Music Direct today and almost pull the plug, I have NOS Telefunken ECC83 on my C22 (newest) and are very good dead quiet and sound very neutral and smooth better than the GL. Now I wonder if the EAT are better than the Tele. Where did you get the EAT tubes.
Thanks,
Angel

If you have some really good Telefunkens, you probably won't notice a huge diff. The EAT's are a nice option to the guys that are charging $200 - $400 each for NOS tubes. People forget that NOS tubes can still fail shortly after turn on. At least with the EAT's, you do have a six month warranty in case of initial failure.

Is it possible to replace just one or two tubes in a C2200 to improve the sound? The phono stage is very noisy and you can hear everything else connected to the preamp when it's in that position.

I was wondering what little diff. there is, more air maybe. The ECC83 in my C22 are not giving me trouble at all and had them since day one I purchase the 60th per and amps.
