As the owner of a pair of Ayre MX-R monoblocks, I am considering replacing my Aesthetix Calypso with a KX-R. What should I expect to have to give for a used unit like you have found, and where should I be looking?

Congrats again Frank!

Tom,

They show up from time to time, patience is required because owners love them.

This should be a new thread, but I am a newbie and do not yet have the required # of posts to start one. I have searched for threads concerning Sound Lab electrostatic panels and found none! As an audio enthusiast for the last 52 years, my quest brought me to bipolar camp long ago, and Sound Labs for the last 10 years. I have the Majestic 945's, their largest, and am a believer. I sense that few, if any, other AA readers share my enthusiasm. My belief is that these speakers are only limited by the associated electronics, and thus my interest in the Ayre KX-R. Sound Labs require particular attention to the amplifiers, and that is how I came to purchase the MX-R's. I was not disappointed.

I will post a new thread in the General Speaker Discussion section when I am able, but in the meantime, perhaps someone can comment?

Thank you my friends for all your congrats

It has now one week in my system. The seller told me it has been used only about 100 hours, so i began the break in period to achieve 500 hours like the engineers of Ayre suggest it.

But right now, it sound wonderful : full of details, some basses to die for, and an amazing dynamic that i never listened before. Now i wonder how the vx-r could sing with it and my Sashas.

Félicitations, Frank.... à fabulous combo you are building!

Just curious, why do you want to replace the 1201's?
