Cyril,

Consider trading it in. Benz does a good trade it though I am not sure what is is for yours. I traded in my LP for a LP-S

I destroyed a Benz Glider myself about 4 years ago, doing a Cartridge Alignment with a newly acquired Protractor. The only consolation, was that I didn't fubar the Stylus-Cantilever.

As I was trying to shift the Cartridge forward in the Headshell, I evidently ran out of Headshell Slot, and needed just another 3 hairs to be right on the money, and bing!

The cartridge came apart in two pieces, with the Cartridge Mounting Plate still attached to the Headshell, and the Motor Assembly between my two fingers. I discovered the two parts were only held together with one drop of what looked to be Crazy Glue.

With the Motor-Generator Assembly came the Cantilever Suspension Wire, and the hair-like Cartridge Pin Wires.

At least the Cartridge has worth dead or alive, doesn't matter who the original owner is/was.

At that time, I traded up to a new Benz Ruby 3, and did find that although the trade in value of the Glider was pretty much set in stone, the price of the new Ruby wasn't, and found that calling around, MusicDirect gave me the best dea lout of all the USA Authorized Benz Dealers. The Cartridge was drop shipped direct from Musical Surroundings-Garth Leerer.

Shortly after, I moved to the ZYX Airy 3X, and sold the Benz Ruby 3 with very low hours.

Glad I could be of some help, and am very sorry for the few typos in my last post.

As Bes Nievera at MusicDirect explained, the broken Cartridge was to be shipped direct to them for inspection, and credit, and had to be insured for it's full value, to protect the owner in case of possible loss.

Then MusicDirect simply placed the order with the main USA Distributor to drop ship the new Ruby 3 direct to me, since they did not have one in stock. Common I suppose, that every dealer cannot continually have an entire on hand stock of any given brand.

Of course the other option is a retip-repair with someone like Soundsmith.

The choices of course has to be up to the individual owner.

I do get the strong impression from reports though, that the current Benz S Models are the finest, and best sounding Cartridges to ever be built by Benz Micro. I'm sure the current Stylus type has had a major influence on the sonics. Thus, now is a good time for that Benz Ruby Z, or!? Mark
