Upgrade from Python CX...
Hi there,
I am currently using a Python CX on my MC252 and I would like to know what would be considered an upgrade. I am looking at the Python XiTron or maybe Anaconda XiTron. I have two cobra XiTron on CDP and Pre-Amp so I would like to have a XiTron loop for my PC. Do you think the Anaconda is justified for my system or is overkill considering price to performance? Would the Python be enough? Later (some day...) I am planning upgrading to the MC452 so that needs to be taken into consideration. Thanks, Serge

Serge,
Can you get Z-Python and Z-Anaconda loaners? That would be the best way to tell in your system. The Z-Ananconda is a fantastic cable. Either one would be an upgrade from the older generation Python. Maybe Caelyn will comment as he frequently does here.

I found the Zitron Python to be a distinct upgrade over an Anaconda CX.
I also found the Alpha HC to be an improvement as well - this might also be a good fit for your power amp. I do not find the Zitron Cobra to be better than the Anaconda CX. So if you are happy with your Z-Cobra, I think you will be ecstatic with either a Z-Python or a Z-Anaconda. Whether a component will benefit from a Zitron Anaconda over a Python really needs a trial in your own system, as Ritmo said. Certainly, one can imagine the extra aggregate gauge of the Anaconda may be a benefit with the MC452 looming in your future. Given both the Zitron Python and Anaconda have just been discontinued, you should be able to get one of these at a good price for any remaining stock. And there will also be quite a few who will upgrade to the new Sigma range, which should result in a decent supply of pre-owned Z-Pythons and Anacondas. |
