Default What speaker cable for full-home in ceiling speakers?

What speaker cable for full-home in ceiling speakers?
I'm buying a home from a builder and the just wired the whole house with crap wires.
I have about 24 hours to rip it out before drywall guy comes in. Any recommendations that aren't too crazy for the entire home?

I'm getting 16 gauge 4 wire I think it could be 99.97% copper.

Transparent Audio.

Seriously great in-wall cables. http://www.transparentcable.com/prod...tID=4&modCAT=1

I just put in about 500 feet of 10/2 knukonceptz cable for a client. Massive improvement versus the 16/2 the previous owner used.

Second vote for KnuKonceptz.

Second here for Transparent's in wall cables, I use Audioquest's in wall speaker cables as well, they work just fine.

Not sure that I would bother too much about ceiling speaker wiring. You would be using that for movies only I would assume which means not truly audiophile stuff.
Twenty some years ago I put monster cable (!) in my walls. Never actually used it though except for my center channel. I ended up running wires under the rug for everything else. But honestly don’t think it would make that much difference on my surrounds either.

Everything makes a difference; I use WW 11ga wire on my side channels, driven by MC1.2Ks.

My back surrounds also use WW 11ga wire driven by MC501’s.

Why is the wire crap that your builder put in? Too high a gauge?

Given your time crunch, you have very limited choices.

This is a good thread since I am in the process of building a new home, framing is done and in the next few weeks after the electricians finish, I am going to pull my lines for the sides and rears and outside speakers.

So, Ivan can you PM me how much a foot this is in bulk, or do they sell it by the roll?

16 gauge generic wire. Too little time to get something cool, but he’s putting 12 gauge wherever there is surround sound for tv.
I had the 16 gauge contractors special at my last house, 14 gauge audioquest was an improvement when I upgraded that.

Sure, in-ceiling May not matter to you, but I had bowers and wilkins 7.3 and they sounded very natural compared to the low end jamo.
