I tried the Wilson "WASP" method of positioning the speakers in my room today.

I don't have much leeway in my room and I use the length of the room for a "nearfield" listening setup as it eliminates much of the early reflections due to the toe in of the speakers and allows me to achieve a much greater soundstage that extends from wall to wall.

None the less, after reading the Wilson manual I decided to give it a try. Surprisingly or I guess I should say not surprisingly, it works but I already had the speakers positioned exactly where the experiment lead me. There are not many spots in my room where the speakers work well except a few and I have discovered the "golden placement" for my room many years ago already. Walking around the room talking out loud felt a little weird but what the hell. Then I asked my son to repeat the same process while I sat in the listening room. That confirmed the same thing I heard. The speakers were already in the neutral zones, optimized and measured to within 1/8 of an inch from the sweet spot and toed in exactly with the tweeters crossing over about 2 feet behind my head which seems to work the best in terms of focus and soundstage width.

I have always followed the 1.1-1.25 rule

Presently distance from tweeter to tweeter on my speakers is 11 feet and ditance from speaker to listening postion is ~13 feet

Make certain on the toe in that you just can see the inside of the speaker wall..not more

I am slightly short of the 1.1 rule, more like .9 due to long wall positioning in my room but the toe in has been set with just a few degrees of the side cabinet visible. Focus is great as is the soundstage depth and width.
