Unless I am missing something, V-cap's are not offered on the Cary website. Where did you have the upgrade done?

It was done at Cary last fall. I talked to Marc and he was able to arrange the vCaps. They are also perfectly willing to install them if you send some to them.

Hmmm...good to know. If I decide to pull the trigger I will definitely call and talk with them first.

Had Clarity caps in my last one and was very pleased. To my ears it opened up the bottom end and extended the top end. That is the sound I was missing and I have a set of new Clarity caps on the shelf to put in the incoming F1, with has the Jensen caps. I'll likely listen for several months to insure I'm fully familiar with the sound before doing the cap swap.

In reading the comments on the Cary website about the two types of caps, the Clarity's description was more in keeping with the sound I am after. If I limit myself to one of those two, I'll likely go for the Clarity's.

After that...TUBE ROLLING TIME!!!

Gotta luv tube-rolling. I've found the coin-base 6SN7s work very well in the SLI-80.
Which system do you have yours in?

Don't have it yet, but wanting to order a new one from Cary. It will likely replace the ModWright KWI-200 in the office and power the SF Guarneri memento's. Or...it will go into the theater room and power the GoldenEar Triton 1's. The latter pairing is really interesting to me with the Tritons high sensitivity and internal powered subwoofers. On paper it seems a match made in heaven.

Those speakers both sound interesting.
I've been driving my 1008BeIIs with 10wpc, but they are asking to for more.
They were very pleased with the 40wpc of triode power form the SLI-80.

F1 is now singing sweetly in my system. Good to have it back. New power supply filter caps ordered and a set of the Clarity coupling caps sitting on the shelf. Once everything is in hand will get them installed. Probably in June, due to some travel.
