Crystal Cable Ultra
I have decided to try and go for one cable loom as far as possible and the one I chose since I have used their products before was Crystal Cable Ultra.
I changed the speaker cables out first and by golly the difference was very substantial. The bass has increased 10-15% by my reckoning. The mid-range is now silky smooth whereas in comparison with the Argento Serenity the mid-range was neutral but not quite liquid enough. The highs have sharpened up but there are no piercing crescendos. It is almost as if the music has come alive suddenly. I have also swapped out the power cords so now my Meridian 808.3, Audio Research Ref 2 Phono and Soulution preamp and poweramp are all Crystal Ultra. Avid Acutus uses my existing Crystal reference and the twinstore gets the Crystal piccolo. However, since I sold my ppp and am waiting for my purepower, the system is not connected so impressions will have to wait for the rest of the system. But so far |

I think you'll be impressed. I bought some of the Dream with the bridges and noticed a big improvement over some expensive brands.

I'm now using Piccalo for all ICs and Crystal Cable Micro speaker wire. I have never heard such a difference with any one specific upgrade.

Howie....thanks for the heads up on the upcoming price increase for the PurePower Regenerators....I originally was going to wait for 2-3 months more after I settle my amp selection issue.....but looks like I'ed better move to buy earlier instead....has the 3000 model arrived yet at Excel Audio?....in any event, I'm quite curious as to how your Crystal Cable setup sounds after a couple of weeks.....I was at one point considering adding Crystal Cable to my system instead of Transparent, but it sounded a little too "edgey" & "bright" and also seemed to have slightly less "density" than the Transparent Reference XL (MM2) setup (along with Sashas, Ayre preamp & source, Krell amps).....then again, your equipment is very different from mine, which probably points to a equipment matching/synergy issue more than anything else....Philip
