Default Speaker Cable Suggestions

Looking for some suggestions on speaker cable. I live about 5 miles from the Cable Company so it is very easy for me to demo cables

Looking to get some good suggestions on speaker cables to try. Requirements/system as follows:
  • Budget - $1,500
  • MC 452
    Classe SSP-800
  • B&W 804 Diamonds
  • Oppo 95
  • Apple TV
  • Musical tastes run to 70 to 90's rock
    Need 8 ft cables

Right now I am trying WW Equinox Speaker Cables. Like the sound, but want to try others. Would like to try a cable that "tames" the highs on the 804 Diamonds

Any suggestions welcome!

Steve

I don't know if the cable company carries the Shunyata line anymore. If they do, I would recommend you listen to the new black mamba speaker wires. I just bought a pair about a month ago and I'm extremely happy with the results. These are in your price point at $1500 for the pair.

Thanks,
Mike

Goertz copper cables have a smooth top end. Also check out MIT Shotgun and AVt MA.

I will suggest Kimber 8TC, a classic. I use 8TC at home and I like it very much as it drives my MC501s and B&Ks before them. At my first demo of the 501s last year 8TC was the speaker cable; speakers were B&W 800 series (I forget which model, 802 I believe). The sound was very listenable, smooth, nicely detailed; and I find it's easy to listen to music without getting caught up in all the audiophile stuff.

There's also 12TC, with the aggregate weight of 8 AWG, vs. the 8TC's 9 AWG.

+1...Charles is right, can't go wrong with Kimber. I use the 8TC in the HT and Kimber Select in the 2 ch.

Pretty excited for the weekend. Just picked up some loaner cables from The Cable Company. Going to try out both the Shunyata Black Mamba and Harmonic Tech Pro 9.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will try the Kimber's next

I used The Cable Company lending library a couple of times in the past. It is a very nice way to try out cables in your system.

You can say a few $$$s and get these cables from Drew either the Black or Silver Dragons.

I did the bi-wire, bu the shotgun blacks wil run anything and sound great, the silvers same thing, maybe a tade more bright .
