Default joseph pulsars

Anyone have any longterm experience with shindo, particularly aurieges/montille 6v6 with pulsars? Always liked the pulsars and have a benign impedance curve but on paper not the best with tubes. or am i better off with "approved" combos such as devores or klipsch?

While the Joseph Audio speakers are excellent and somewhat tube friendly with a very flat impedance curve, they are not of high enough sensitivity to be run with the Shindo Montille 6v6 amp at its rated 12 watts per channel. Typically Josephs are recommended to be used with tube amps having a minimum of 40 wpc, and more tends to be better.

If you take a look at the Stereophile review and corresponding measurement, sensitivity is measured at 83.5db - very low for a lower power tube amp.

I have run Shindo amps (Cortese, Corton-Charlemagne and Haut Brion) on Joseph Rm 25 si mkIIs, Rm 7 si mkIIs and Perspectives.
They all work and they are all entertaining to a degree,
But they are far from optimal combinations. The Josephs are just not sensitive enough, nor are they high enough impedance to show what the Shindos are truly capable of. Concomitantly, the Shindos are too underpowered to show what the Josephs are truly capable of.
I am a longtime owner and lover of the products of both companies. Just not together.
If you buy a Pulsar and plan to pair it with a Shindo amp you will be wasting your money in my opinion.

One of the very few audio threads where all respondents (at least so far) are in agreement!

Thanks for the responses.just seems like the shindo kit is very limited with partnering speakers. Even the combo of klipsch doesnt seem to make sense with its impedance curve of heresy or Cornwall

Just as another possibility for your consideration, I have a buddy with a Shindo Montille and he has found it to be a great match driving Coincident Total Eclipse speakers. They have the desired combination of high impedance and sensitivity. That series from Coincident is no longer manufactured, but they are sometimes found used at great prices or you might consider some of the current models that they offer.

Probably short sighted but i dunno if zu had any design philosophy besides slapping in large guitar speakers in cabinets and calling it a day. Their pricing structure seems so random.

The OP might look at the Focal 1008BeII's. Am very pleased with my Luxman SQ-N10/1008BeII combo.
