If you use Dish Network and watching an HD movie which I now see in 1080i.
And you are watching the same movie with 1080p just how much difference is there ?

I think we all know if we were using different projectors and different screens all this would certainly effect what we saw.

So, I suppose I really am saying to those that had the 720p and watched movies from Dish Network in HD.
Then up graded to a 1080p projector of the same quality how much difference did you see ?

You only changed projectors, not your screen.

Next question ?

Going from a DVD player to the Blu-Ray player same movie.
How much difference is there actually between the two of them ?

I think I can ask these questions on this Site as this Site has Adults as members.
Versus some other sites that I will not name that one is reluctant to ask even a simple question.
(Because of the Childish Comments to the question ask)

Just trying to get a rough idea of what the real difference is and I'm sure many of you know.

tigerhonaker
I have a Sanyo Z4 projector (1080i) and 90" Dalite screen. You will notice a slight difference from 720p / 1080i to 1080p and will be improved with RUNCO, but is by no means dramatic.

Now going from DVD 480p to Blu-Ray 1080p you will SEE and HEAR a dramatic difference!

So far all this has been over the phone.
Tomorrow afternoon will be Face-to-Face and a Contract.
From being in sales for over 30 yrs. I take No-Phone commitments as Fact.
In this case this same A/V Store did send off my current Runco for the Up-Grade 5-yrs. ago.
So I do know these people and expect all to go smooth.

720p to 1080p
The secondary effects around improvements in projector performance will swamp the difference in many setups, strongly favoring the newer 1080p machines.

Thanks Tom !!!

Now that is what I am looking forward to seeing.
It has for yrs. now made me wonder if the cost was worth the actual performance difference.
As with any discussion with people the opinions vary to a little difference to a lot of difference.
I am hoping for a, (Very Noticeable-Difference) to be honest.
From the Specs and what reviews I have read about very similar Runcos
there should be a Very-Noticeable-Difference.
One thing for sure if all goes as planned I will certainly be finding out.
If there is not a noticeable difference watching HD on Dish the wife is going to look like this as She Beats Me

(Now going from DVD 480p to Blu-Ray 1080p you will SEE and HEAR a dramatic difference!)

You know I have not yet ever watched a Blu-Ray movie.
So this is going to be interesting for sure.

Thanks all,
Terry

Terry,
I'm definitely in the "wow this will be huge step-up" camp. You will be going from a 10 year old single chip 720p Dark Chip 2 technology to a three chip 1080p Super Onyx DLP technology. I think you'll see vastly improved blacks and on/off contrast ratio - the two things I think make for an outstanding home cinema experience.

Enjoy!

Tom

Hi Tom,

I am so new here that no one knows me at all.
I am a research the research type of fellow before I make a decision.
And based on all the reading I have done and I will add that has been a lot.
I agree this should be an "Out-Standing" sit back and Grin type of change.
And I did say I am in no way one of the Pros here on A/V.
But I do think I can read and get the general idea of a product.
And my now VX5000ci is in no way even close to the, (I-Hope) up coming VX-11d.
My opinion is these two projectors are just in completely different camps.
I'm so looking forward to watching HD on Dish and seeing what this Bad-Boy will do.

If this all goes as planned, below is what I am going to look like for this (Very-Very-Special Christmas).

Terry

Tom,

I agree with you .... I was comparing 480p to older 1080p technology....
