It's smaller than the MAXX 3. Last edited by PLK; 11-06-2015 at 01:45 PM. |

Can't wait to see/hear it. It may be my new dream speaker.

I bow to your authority if you've insider info, but I'm betting Wilson will not come out the door at $100k. If the past is a guide they'll have an initial lower price than that where it will settle after several months.
Smaller, imo, is better for broader acceptance. Working physically with the MAXX3 was a bit of a challenge. Thanks for bringing the Alexx information to the group. |

Charles,
Your points are well taken. A used pair of Maxx3 represents a great value. Last edited by PLK; 11-14-2015 at 02:18 AM. |

I disagree about the CST - it is a significant improvement IMHO. But I agree about bass cabinet size. There's no substitute

Having heard both I would go with the Focal Ti dome. I would not buy the newer designs on the basis of the CST alone, no way. Technology marches onward. It also remains to be seen if a suitable replacement for the "old" Focal woofers can be found. Will Alexx have the goods in the very low bass? No way to tell unless you buy the speaker and experiment. A larger more robust bass cabinet with the same sized "improved" woofers (11" and 13") would have been highly desirable. Add in the improved geometry, midrange baffle material, newer crossover, and the excellent CST--this would be a 100k speaker that could rival the XLF and truly replace the Maxx3. I wonder if Wilson will not fill the obvious niche that will exist above the Alexx but below the XLF? I certainly would. |

However, if Alexx comes equipped with dual spider woofers that would be a game changer. Remember, Thor woofers are dual spider and they live up to their hype. Then a smaller cabinet--you could have your cake and also eat it.

+1. To me, The CST is softer and easy to like, but for some music, it is not as lively.
