Madfloyd...have you tried giving the folks in NH a call (check Wilson's website for dealers there). I believe they have Sashas and S3s on display but you may want to call them and see if they have a point of view on whether the Maxx's will work in your room (I believe they will come out and check out your listening room) or even if they can arrange for a loaner pair for you to demo in your room (tall order but you never know). Just a thought.

Or check with Christian Moynihan (rockitman) who recently replaced Sasha's with MAXX2 in a room of similar size as yours (or even smaller?) IIRC, he had nothing to say but how good they sounded!

My opinion is that the Maxx's would overwhelm your room and they would not have enough space to breath to maximize their potential. I think the Alexias would be a better upgrade choice for you as they are essentially only taller, and should provide more of the Maxx's imaging in a smaller footprint.
I totally disagree.
I think the MAXX's will work in your space and you might be able to do away with the subs. You have enough open space so the room won't load itself. The only issue really is the physical look of the speakers in your space. They are much taller than your Sasha's.

I currently have Sashas. The room is very strange in terms of dimensions due to angled walls. The end where the speakers are is only about 12' wide (although it's a half wall and is open above). The Sashas are about 102" tweeter to tweeter (little over 9').

The other end of the room is more like 17' wide and has a stairway opening on one side.

A note about the listening position:
The Sashas seem to work well either very close to the front wall or pulled out to where I have them now (40" from the back of the cabinet to the front wall). For a while I was sitting on a chair in front of the coffee table, but the drivers don't integrate as well and sitting at the coffee table location hits a bass node. Sitting on the couch is surprisingly good (as long as I don't have my head back against the wall) and this puts me at 16' from the speakers.

I've been getting into classical music more and more and the allure of the Maxx3's is their scale. I just don't know if the additional bass energy would be a problem or not.

Thoughts?
A trick someone once told me. Have you ever tried toeing in the left speaker (towards the open area) more than the right Sasha?

I say do it. You have the space and you can even free up square footage by getting rid of the subs.

I think you will be just fine with Maxxes in that space.

Cannot doubt but that excess bass energy will dissipate into open areas and not be an issue in the listening space. The big Wilson's will move big room air in a very different way from the Sasha's. go for it!
