I've mentioned before I actually liked the LL2D a little more for it's harmonic richness and tone density but it is system dependent and ultimately everyone has their taste and preference. It will be a phenomenal system with either preamp.

I wish I could audition them both to see what best suited my taste. Not likely though. Not to mention that I need balanced outs to the amps. The Transparent Reference ICs are XLR.

Difference is all tube including power supply for LL2 vs hybrid for L2 with the power supply being the tubed part. What one hears is attributed to tubes and not necessarily is it more "accurate" but does sound a bit more organic with that Lamm magic naturalness for the L2 while the LL2 sounds a bit more euphonic and richer. Not a night and day difference but noticeable and depends on your preference. Of course if balanced are needed....

Pick up a preowned LL2, enjoy it, compare to L2 and sell if need be, you won't lose any money if bought at the right price!

I wish I had the recreational funds to do both for comparison sake. Such is not my lot in life thus far. Moreover, I must have balanced outs. So even if I could compare the two, I'd need adapters for the LL2. Not sure how much fidelity would be compromised.

If only I had friends who had one of each, right? I could audtion them both at no expense to me. But alas, I don't . Dreaming, however, is free .

Does anyone use HRS shelves with their Lamm M1.2s?

Default ARC Ref 40 Lamm M1.2 synergy

Hi,

I am new to AA and and strongly considering an amp change from ARC 210s to the Lamm M1.2s to exploit the full capability of the Ref 40. Would love to hear other user experiences going from ARC 210s to the Lamm's. Or ARC 250s vs. the Lamm's. My 2 Ch system consists of the following:

ARC Ref. 40
ARC Ref Phono 2 SE
Oracle Delphi Mk V with a Triplanar arm and Van den Hul Frog
ARC DAC 3 MkII with Ayre D-1X as a transport
ARC REF 210 amps
Vandersteen 5A's
Granite Audio cabling and power cords

Thanks so much
Rob
