agreed.
Power conditioner would probably suck the life right out of the nice Luxman. A dedicated power line on a separate ground is always money well spent, in my most humble opinion. |

In addition to the other suggestions ... may I suggest you use the tone controls you paid for ... at least before you even consider a full equalizer.

yes indeed... lots of good music on those Cerwin Vegas.... right after a hard exam, I would drop the needle on 'Let it Bleed" and begin the recovery process. Later sold them and bought Klipsch Heraseys, which only got me in more trouble for making too much noise.... I still drop the needle on "Let it Bleed", it is just a more refined drop.

You have the most difficult to position Sf speaker of the past decade. However it is well worth the effort to get it right.
The positioning in your picture indicates you will have little or no mid bass fill (your brother's complaint), almost no extension, and a lack of clarity, even if there's probably plenty of depth. You can throw all the gear and room treatments in the world at it but until the speakers are working properly in the room, you'll really have no idea whether you are compensating for the set up or actually improving the system. |

it can take allot of time!
I spent days dialing in my Extremas and Rel subs. Then when I thought it was perfect, I moved something and the soundstage would get bigger, but bass changed, etc... I would listen for a few months, decide I could get more, made some changes, found new things. It was the fun part of dialing in the system. When I got the Amati's they are so hard to move that it slowed the whole process down. After years of listening to them in a position similar to the Extremas, I moved them back near the corners like Fremer had set his up years ago. To my utter amazement, the bass tightened up some but the soundstage opened way up.I had always believed Sonus Faber speakers needed room to breathe. The Amati's can be different than the monitors I guess. I had to move the Stentor's to accommodate the new position, but after owning the Amati's since 1998, they have never sounded better. I still get goosebumps from the Amati's, almost everyday. Incredible emotional speakers. I should have experimented with their room position more sooner. Ken |

I've been running like a madman since before the Montreal Show. Perhaps Ken should read the sticky at the top and see if he wants to wade into it. In the mean time, I'll catch my breath.
