There is a balanced digital output on the Sooloos you can use. The SpeakerLink output is designed to be used only with Meridian speakers but there is a balanced digital output in there you can use for the AES input to on your MDA1000. I'm using this digital output from my Sooloos to my MDA1000 but to be honest with you it sounds the same as the coax digital output to me on my system.

I had the Olive 4HD and the Sooloos in my system at different times and they seemed to sound about the same, a direct comparison may show some sound differences but I'm sure they would be subtle. I've found all severs pretty much sound the same when used with my MDA1000 (great), so I would recommend getting the one with the features and user interface you like the best. I've tried a few servers and the Sooloos is easily my favorite.
THANKS Victor !
very useful !
so the Meridian output is an AES....

Yes, the SpeakerLink output is a balanced AES digital output. To be able to use this output with your MDA1000 you will need to make a custom cable for this. You will start off with a regular Cat 5 ethernet cable, then cut off one end and solder 3 of the 8 wires in the Cat 5 cable to an AES connector. I'll get you the pin out info to make the cable if you end up needing this.

Keep in mind not all Sooloos components have a SpeakerLink output, the Control 10/15 does have a SpeakerLink output, I'm not sure if the new MC200 and MC600 have a SpeakerLink output.

All other digital outputs on Sooloos components are coax digital outputs, only SpeakerLink is a balanced digital output.

I am sure Ivan can hook Jerome up with a custom Wireworld cable to do the job

Both the MC200 and MS600 have a SpeakerLink output.

I think you can buy RJ45 to Aes/EBU adaptors and they work perfectly with no defeating of the signal. I think I red this in TAS's review. Otherwise do as Victor suggested. The important aspect is that output is balanced.

Just received a e-mail from Olive noting they are again going to be offering a trade-up program from the 4HD to the 6HD. They initially offered something similar when the 6HD was first announced. I will wait to see what it will costs but I doubt I will take advantage of it. Since my unit is in the bottom of my rack the large screen though it is much nicer than the one on the 4HD is not something I need. In addition, the better DAC's won't help since I run my unit thru the MCD-1100's DAC's.
