I don't have as fancy a setup as many, but I've had good performance with my two Furman units. Both have extreme voltage shutdown and when the voltage goes under or over a certain point, the units will shut off.

Whole house protection is out of the question since I rent, but the Furmans give me a reasonable comfort level. I think it good also to shut off the indivdual components before powering back up whatever conditioner you use, to avoid surges.

I don't know about this thread. Five minutes after I read it earlier today, we suffered a power outage that lasted nearly an hour. No breakers tripped, the Yalu Bulalas protecting my audio and computer systems remained intact, and everything powered up normally following power restoration. But I gotta wonder...is it safe to tempt the outage gods by reading up on surge and brownout protection here?
