Any news if this is working for you? BTW, won't the files be larger once you convert them to WAV format? I would think that since FLAC is a compressed codec the WAV file would be larger. Am I right to assume this or am I missing something?

I'm a Mac guy but use dbPoweramp on my PC just because I like it so much.

I totally forgot to report my finding.
I downloaded the 96/24 version of the Seal compilation.
The FLAC download from HD Tracks, conversion to .wav using DB power and burning to dvd-a using dvd audio solo was simple and straight forward.
HOWEVER....i couldn’t figure out why the Ayre would only play 30sec of each track before automacally stopping and returning to idle.
After more than an hour of looking at every option from each piece of software burning several different configurations to end up with the same result, I finally relented and contacted HD Tracks.
It turns out that Warner music uses a Verance watermarking that’s embedded in the every track. That really sucks as Warner puts out more than a few artists I would instantly download.
I further uncovered that Ayre is one of a handful of players that included the detection of that software.
Sooooo, HD Tracks gave me a credit towards another download of which Moving Pictures by Rush caught my eye.
Being able to compare the download to the original redbook cd, it was easy to hear the sonic improvements from the .wav file.

Mark.......That is an intereting discovery. So, even download HDtracks music has a form of copy protection embedded in the files, at least Warner. It is very likely there are others. I wonder if the enbedded copy protection negatively influences playback quality to a degree.

Customer support had this to say about the watermarking:
"It’s only happening with WMG (warner brothers) titles – Metallica, Carly Simon, Hotel California, Flaming Lips, S.E.A.L. Faith Hill, Chicago.
No reports of any others.

Your DVD-audio player is one with hardware-enabled watermark detection.
There are a handful of players on which this phenomenon is happening for some WMG albums.
There is no way around it if you wish you use the product on DVD-A."

This is a watermark detection at the disc level... because once you transcode to WAV you should lose any additional metadata the FLAC contained.
