Listening to...
Ellington, Mercer, The Duke Ellington Orchestra Digital Duke  This is an old CD I had forgotten about, but when I got it I bought it because I loved the music and the sonics on this disc. My memory did not not betray me. It still sounds amazingly good and the orchestra arrangements are very enjoyable and even exciting. This is going on heavy rotation... McCoy Tyner - Nights of Ballads & Blues, a 24/96 hdtracks download.
I've always been fond of Tyner's playing since I first heard him on Coltrane's My Favorite Things. This is a beautiful standards album. Tyner's playing is very relaxed, with just the right balance of technical flourish and melodic playing. Also a very nice recording with good soundstage. image-3995133597.jpg
