It would be nice to hear them in a proper set-up but I guess that goes for all speakers.
Yes Jim, often show demos are really disappointing.

I nearly laughed when they were rolled out for me after passing on the sashas at a demo. I knew just by looking at them (having never heard or read a thing about them) that they were not for me. 90 minutes later after exhausting my listening supply I was left dumbfounded at what they did right with seemingly nothing wrong to my ears. That was maybe 12-18 months ago and i've been a delighted owner since last November. Over time I decided their music outweighed any negative visual perception I had and to be honest i quite like them staring me down now. They're definitely not for everyone but certainly a rabid following among those that have been bitten. Anecdotally, I believe there are at least 4 owners at this site.

My only complaint thus far being that it has been a laughable 2+ month wait for a replacement driver that suffered a dent. All the more so when one considers that they use the same drivers across the entire line.

Hey Lee,

I am a proud owner of the G2's too. Are you planning on replacing the driver yourself? I would not recommend it. Have your dealer do it if possible. The drivers are actually floating in the cabinet and installation is not as simple as it may seem.

I, too, am a very happy owner of a pair of Vivid Audio Giya G2s.
After visiting Vivid and having them demonstrated to us by Laurence Dickie, my wife and I had a major disagreement, we couldn't agree on the colour.
Eventually we settled on Mercedes Palladium Silver Metalic, and they were delivered last October.
I realise that, visually, they are not to everyone's taste, however I think that they are beautiful.
The rest of the system is undergoing some changes, I'll post details and pics once those changes are finalised.

Yes, i already did one and you're not kidding as it was more difficult than it appeared. A whole lot of truth in that stereophile article where JA had to do the same.

Looking good Colin, i believe we both favor the same speaker cables too.

Tremayne,

Nice color. Mine are silver. I wanted the light blueish/gray but there was an upcharge for that. What footers are you using? I use Stillpoints 5 under some of my components but when I asked them about using under the G2 I was told that they are one of the few speakers that don't benefit from them. They don't ruin the sound, just not any improvements......a testament to the excellent design of the speaker.

Vivid Audio G2, Zanden 6000, Stahl-Tek Opus "Prime", Stahl-Tek A.B.C., Mac Mini with external P.S., Tripoint Troy, High Fidelity "Ultimate" interconnects, Jade Audio Gold Vermeil speaker cable, Stage III, Stealth, Virtual Dynamics Power Cables, GPA Monaco shelving, PAD "Ultimate" USB cable

Elescher,

When I bought mine the only standard colours were black or white, neither of us liked the black, and my wife vetoed the white. The colour we chose was very close to the one she wanted, oyster, but that colour became brown under certain lighting conditions, this one doesn't, so we're both happy.
The footers are just longer spikes, the originals weren't long enough to penetrate the carpet and leave some clearance between the carpet and speaker base, Vivid made them for me.
The opposing base drivers cancell out any movement, it's the same principal as BMW use on their horizontally opposed motorcycle engines. As there is no movement then there is no benefit to be had in using special footers, but I do like to have them rock solid to the floor, it's the habit of a lifetime.

Lee3,

Yes, I have Nordost Valhalla throughout.

Another clear case that a book cannot be judged by it's cover.

We get only enthusiastic reactions to our Vivids.
Visitors say they are like music instruments in our living room.
And I don't think we're such nasty characters that they would be intimidated by us...
