I believe you can post any link as long as you use the [link] flags around it.

As for physical media I learned a lesson today. My NAS “exploded” last week leading to a loss of all the data on it. I believe I can recover some of it via older backups but I will still need to rip a lot of the cds again. I’m glad I kept them but I can’t say the same about my dvd collection. I bowed to my wife pressure and got rid of all of them and now they are definitely gone.

Very interesting and detailed actual comparison from an interested And to my eyes unbiased, user.
No discussion comparing DSD though. (I have to say my Marantz SA-10 does wonderful job on CD to DSD decoding)

I found this via a post from James Tanner of Bryston. So credit is his.

As for where I get music? I have stopped buying music, and am actually culling my LP and CD collections. Weeding the junk out.
Sadly I am a creature of habit. I LIKE the stuff I have, and really do not seek out new music at all at this time. MY last big enlargement of my musical sphere was late 1990's when I finally became interested in Jazz (all due to The DVD series Ken Burns Jazz) and I acquired thousands of albums in both CD an LP format. Almost all locally from a really great used record store
Thank you for the link very interesting.

I have about 1800 cd I have ripped. I have a synology 2 bay nas so once I was done ripping I removed one drive and put it in a safe place. I also gave a drive to a friend. My music is backed up.
I usually stream. Had been Tidal but now Qobuz. I don't have MQA on my DAC so Qobuz sounds better. Also more classical and jazz on Qobuz which I like. However, the 24, 96 and higher streams drop out at times. Tidal via Roon, HQ never drop out.

I might start purchasing some high rez downloads, but at $20 a file price vs Sublime at $20 a month??? Why buy. I will probably always have a subscription as its new material all the time.

My TT sounds like Butt compared to my digital. I am told I need to invest about $11K if I want to top my digital. I have maybe 30 records I really like. If I'm gonna go to that extreme, I will get an Otari 5050 and spend $9k on tapes.

Since moving to the Philippines a year ago buying Vinyl is that much more difficult (expensive), but I can still go to Acoustic Sounds & Amazon Prime. When not available on LP I go hi-res download usually from HD Tracks.

Prefer DSD and 45 RPM Vinyl both as first choices. Then Hi-Res PCM and 180g LP from there CD and lastly streaming. My preferred shopping spots are ...

1) Acoustic Sounds .. Vinyl and Downloads
2) Local Used Music Stores ... CDs and Vinyl
3) Pro Studio Masters
4) HD Tracks
5) Sound Liason
6) Native DSD
7) CD Universe
8) Amazon
9) Barnes and Noble Local Store

Listen to both Tidal and Qobuz but mainly to discover new music as I still prefer physical media whenever possible. I ripped a few CDs to test but still prefer the sound of the spinning disc with my Esoteric Transport ... Call me old school for sure! :-)
